This is a great video about complexity theory and the shift in paradigm from the Newtonian clockwork universe to complex systems. In today's VUCA world most teams I work with the sum of its parts is smaller than the whole – meaning the collective intelligence of the system is not used to its full potential due essentially to lack of team efficiencies.
The first step in aligning the collective purpose with team norms and structures is to really understand the inter-dependencies of the system you’re working with - in complex systems, most teams I work with, the whole is more than the sum of its parts.
